5 Summer Fashion Trends We Love | Cute Beltz

Believe it or not, summer is almost here! While you’re stocking up on SPF, planning your annual BBQ and figuring out a way to maximize your “Summer Fridays” don’t forget about this season’s gorgeous summer fashion trends. Thankfully, many of the trends that were in style for spring are still going to be in full force this summer.  To celebrate the start of summer, we’ve rounded up the best looks from the fashion runways that’ we’re looking forward to seeing this season.

STATEMENT STRIPES

These bad boys were seen pretty much everywhere and we predict will be a trend that keeps on going. Whether you wear them bold in black and white or mix things up with a few colors like at Paul Smith, one thing’s for sure – you’ll be turning heads!

MONOCHROME

Louis Vuitton RTW Spring Summer 2013 Paris Fashion Week October 2012

It’s this season’s it word. Giving two fingers up to whoever said black and white was boring, this minimalist trend was all over the runways including Gucci, Marc Jacobs and Roland Mouret. We adore the simple lines and cool colors for a no nonsense approach to style.

FLORALS

If you invest in just one printed piece for this spring/summer season make sure it is a garden style floral print – be it a mirrored, oversized or ditzy, a floral print is a must to keep that wardrobe on trend. Be it a stylish trouser suit, classic shirting or romantic skirts and dresses. Wear matching florals head to toe, clash contrasting prints together or simply add a ladylike floral accessory to be in style this season.

PRETTY IN PEPLUM

peplum

The ultra chic peplum is set to be a huge look this season. The stand-out shape creates curves on the hips, whilst nipping in the waist, creating a womanly hourglass silhouette. Featuring predominantly on classic and elegant evening dresses, the peplum is an update to the bodycon silhouette that was popular last season, the extra dimension being complimentary to all shapes and sizes

IT’S ALL WHITE

tumblr_mdh6huSQTf1qhft38

Whilst it was all about vibrant jewel tones last season, for Spring/Summer 2012-2013 it is all about crisp, clean, classic white. Definitely one to invest in thanks to its trans-seasonal appeal, chic winter white is sure to carry through to Winter 2013. To keep the look on trend, wearing white head to toe is a must so it may be best to avoid the red wine.

Hot New Spring Nail Trends

Spring is finally here, which means no more mittens! Phew. It also means it’s time to get your nails looking their best. But why stick with a traditional manicure when there are so many easy ways to take things to the next level?  Check out our 3 most loved trends for this Spring!

Cool Ombré Trend

Ombré patterns have been everywhere this season. The French word ombré means “shaded,” and in fashion it refers to pretty much anything that starts out one color and then slowly morphs into another. So, why not ombré nails? They’re easier than you’d think.

How-To: Start with shaped and buffed nails. Clean nails thoroughly with acetone polish remover. Do not use a base coat, as the blending for the ombré look will not work as well over a base coat. Work with one nail at a time so polish is wet enough to blend. Starting at the cuticle area, apply a blue polish in a thick layer, using a dabbing technique, about 1/3 of the way up the nail. Using a lighter, metallic-blue shade, immediately polish, starting where darker blue ends, and “drag” the end of the darker blue polish up the nail to the end with the lighter blue to create an ombré “fade” (so the colors look like they fade into each other). Continue this application with all nails. Seal nails with a quick dry-top coat.

The Glitter Trend

After years of sticking to subtle shimmer on our nails—more flicker than glare—we’ve found ourselves besotted with the new mega-size glitter polishes. A little bit rebellious and very luxurious, this trend is flashy in the best possible way.

How-To: Working with one nail at a time, apply a layer of brush-on nail glue, then dunk your finger into a container of craft glitter. Shake off the excess and re-dip as necessary to get the glitter to cover the entire nail. Once all your nails are finished, apply another layer of glue to hold everything in place, then top with clear polish.

Half Moon Trend

4springnails-mdn

One of the easiest and quickest looks to re-create is the half moon. This trend focuses on the moons of your nails (the half circle on the base of your nail).  Instead of highlighting the tip of the nail, try showing off the half-moon shape near the cuticle of the nail. You can switch it up by using two contrasting colors or by leaving the half-moon completely clear. It looks tough to make but following my DIY steps you will realize it’s super easy and looks killer!  Let’s try together:

How-To: Leave the moon (the white, half-moon shaped part of your nail closer to the skin) of your nail bare (you can use half of a hole perforator to cover), and coat rest of nail with two coats of plum polish. Do high-arched tip in one coat of black polish (note: to achieve full effect, nails should be a pointed, triangular shape). Finish with a shiny top coat.

Banish Winter Blues with Pretty Pastels

pastel trend

Feminine and flattering pastel statements are a definite must have for Spring 2013.  These sweet hues like turquoise, pink, lilac and powdery yellows are perfect on just about every skin tone.  The pretty, on-trend tones are super easy to wear, whether you rock them as an accessory to give a fresh pop to an existing outfit, or sport pastel as your focus piece.

There are many ways you can incorporate pastels into your wardrobe.   Check out our favorite ways to wear these cool colors!

Mix pastels and neutrals

Adding a dose of neutral can help balance out the girly nature of pastels making it very easy to mix into one’s existing wardrobe.  Whether it’s a pair of earthy toned pants or a crisp white shirt, pairing it with pastel will give you just the right dose of color without going overboard.

Accessorize

Pastel-Accessories-1

Unsure about stocking your closet with these candy shades? Try introducing some bits here and there.  Start with some adorable accessories first. Pastel accessories look great especially on a black dress. They sweeten up the look a little so it doesn’t appear as too vampy. Opt for a statement necklace in a pastel shade or even a pair of pastel pumps to balance the outfit out.

Pair it with Black

Some women like the look of pastels but don’t want to seem like they’re going to a garden party when wearing them.  One easy way of avoiding this is to pair your pastels with your black pieces.   Got a favorite black leather jacket that you love to wear? There’s nothing wrong with pairing it with a pastel top or bottoms, like a pair of mint skinnies.  The combination of the softer pastels with the edgier details is a nice contrast and keeps your look from becoming too saccharine.

Keep hair and makeup minimal

When you’ve already got sweet candy colors all over you, you’ll want to keep your makeup sweet and simple. Avoid mixing pairing it with dark smoky eyes unless if you’ve got black or deeper hues in your outfit. The best would be to go with nude or light eye shadow shades, paired with a classic red lip or a shimmery pink.

How will you wear pastel this spring?
